Air traveling with your pets can be both a challenge and fun for you and your furry friend. You need to consider many things, including all pet-related locals and policies at any airport you are traveling through. If you and your pet are traveling from or to Phoenix, here are the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) pet guidelines:

Where the pet relief areas are located at PHX

If you wish to roam around the airport with your pet, there are other relief areas available:

  • Economy parking East – The “Economy Park and Bark” is located at the east of Economy parking.

  • Sky Train Station – “Park n Play” is located in the northwest area of 44th Street of Sky Train Station.

Pets flying as cargo from PHX

When flying, you have to consider the size of your pet. If your fur buddy is quite hefty, it may need to travel as checked-in baggage. However, regardless if your pet is traveling via cargo or baggage, you should check the weather first before flying. Too hot weather can be harmful to your pet.

When your animal companion travels via cargo, you will have to abide by the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport pet policy. The airport will require you to collect your pet at a particular cargo facility. Note that their cargo facilities are separate from the airport, and shuttle services may not be available. You may need to book your means of transportation to get there.

More PHX Pet Policies

PHX Sky Harbor is considered one of the country’s pet-friendly airports. Pet owners would not need to worry about traveling with their pets because the pet relief areas are found in almost all parts of the airport. However, these relief areas are not very large. As a result, they can only accommodate 2 dogs at a time.

PHX Sky Harbor International Airport requires that your fur buddy is in their carriers while inside the airport. This is for safety and security reasons for you, your pet, and others at the airport. Service animals are exempted from this policy.

Finally, if you are picking up your pet in cargo, please be reminded that PHX strictly prohibits you from letting your fur buddy out of the carrier while inside the facility. You can let them out as soon as you step out of the facility.

As a pet owner, you have to make sure that you and your pet are comfortable. Following the above-mentioned PHX pet guidelines will make your trip with your pet more easy, relaxed, and fun!
